2.66

贊曰：梵云繫都，此云幢也。於法自在，高顯如幢。放光自在，亦如高幢。舊云「法相光相」，此語非也。但譯經人說如高幢，受者不知，謂指幢為相，如標相相似，是故謬也。

Commentary: In Sanskrit it is *ketu*, which here translates as banner (*dhvaja*). Being sovereign regarding the Dharma, elevated and exalted like a banner [is why he is called Dharmadhvaja]. Emitting light with sovereignty, likewise like an elevated banner [is why he is called Prabhādhvaja]. The old translation called them 'Mark of the Dharma' (Dharmalakṣaṇa) and 'Mark of Light' (Prabhālakṣaṇa); this phrasing is incorrect. The translator merely described it as being like an elevated banner, but the recipient misunderstood, thinking the banner indicated a mark (*lakṣaṇa*), resembling a sign or token; hence the error.
