Commentary: His wisdom being extraordinary is called 'Wondrous Wisdom' (Varamati). This was absent formerly. Realising the pure dharmadhātu and being born into the family of the Tathāgatas is called 'Wondrous Birth' (Susambhava). Containing the Dharma-jewel within is called 'Superior Treasury'. Like an unopened lotus flower, he is thus named 'Superior Lotus Treasury' (Padmagarbha). Attaining extraordinary concentration, sovereign like a king—or possessing an extraordinary concentration like a king—is called 'King of Samādhis' (Samādhirāja). As for samādhi, this translates as 'equipoise' (*samāhita*); its substance is meditative concentration (dhyāna). These two Bodhisattvas were absent in the former version. Adorning himself with the wondrous virtues of the One Vehicle that are like a lotus—or constantly adorning himself with lotuses to signify emerging from the mud and the blossoming of wisdom and awakening—is called 'Lotus Adornment' (Padmālaṃkāra). Formerly it was called 'Flower Adornment' (Puṣpālaṃkāra), which has the same meaning.
