贊曰：此品有二，初巧權心念希佛垂哀、後大聖慈悲別問令往。此初文也。寢者眠。頓者困。示臥危篤，招問疾故。

Commentary: This chapter has two parts: first, his skillful and expedient thought hoping for the Buddha to extend pity; second, the Great Sage's compassion separately inquiring and commanding them to go. This is the first text. “Reclining” means sleeping. “Exhausted” means distressed. He displayed lying down critically ill, so as to invite inquiries after his illness.
