贊曰：此有五句。四讚大乘。五念報佛恩。六自意樂淨，深信勝解故。七法詞善巧，於法善巧，法無礙也；詞善巧者，詞無礙也。或法詞者，說法之詞，辨才無滯。八為三寶種能紹隆故。具此八種，乃應說法。聲聞無此八種事故，不應說法。一一翻之，義可知也。舊經有六，無意樂淨、法詞善巧。

The Commentary states: Here there are five clauses: fourth, praising the Mahāyāna; fifth, being mindful of repaying the Buddha's kindness; sixth, purity of one's own intention (āśaya), due to deep faith and resolute conviction (adhimukti); seventh, skillfulness in Dharma and phrasing—skillfulness in Dharma means unobstructedness in Dharma (dharma-pratisaṃvid); skillfulness in phrasing means unobstructedness in phrasing (nirukti-pratisaṃvid); or 'Dharma and phrasing' means the words of expounding the Dharma, with eloquence free from hesitation; eighth, being able to continue and magnify the lineage of the Three Jewels. Only when possessing these eight matters should one expound the Dharma. Because śrāvakas lack these eight matters, they should not expound the Dharma. By reversing each one, their meaning can be known. The old sūtra had six, lacking purity of intention and skillfulness in Dharma and phrasing.
