贊曰：此中一對，雜染清淨，對無明發業因。有者三有，愛謂愛取，有愛正為潤生之緣，此為生死縛根本故。順諸眾生，不捨生死，故云不滅。雖不滅無明，而起無漏智明；雖不滅有愛，而起解脫。解脫者雖潤生緣，證無為理，勝解數也。所證真理名解脫故，即是涅槃。

Commentary: Here is one pair: defilement and purification, paired with ignorance generating karma as a cause. "Existence" refers to the three realms of existence; "craving" refers to craving and grasping. Craving for existence is precisely the condition that moistens rebirth, because this is the root of the bondage of saṃsāra. According with sentient beings without abandoning saṃsāra, it is therefore said to be "not extinguished." Although not extinguishing ignorance, one gives rise to the clarity of anāsrava wisdom; although not extinguishing craving for existence, one gives rise to liberation. Liberation, though a condition for moistening rebirth, realizes unconditioned truth; it is the mental factor of resolve (adhimokṣa). Because the ultimate truth realized is called liberation, it is precisely Nirvāṇa.
