贊曰：下顯理窮。有二：初陳己事、後顯他詞。己事有二：初陳二人來請出罪，後說己為如法息除。初陳二人來請出罪中有三：初明至由、次明至軌、後請出罪。此初文也。佛為法主，威德特尊，小事輕塵誠為不可，故懷愧恥不敢詣佛。

The Commentary says: Below, he reveals that the principle [of his teaching] was exhausted. There are two parts: first, he states his own circumstances, and later, he reveals the words of the other. His own circumstances has two parts: first, he states that two persons came to request the expiation of their offenses; later, he explains that he resolved and removed them in accord with the Dharma. Under the first, stating that two persons came to request the expiation of their offenses, there are three parts: first, explaining the reason for their coming; next, explaining the manner of their arrival; and later, requesting the expiation of the offenses. This is the first passage. The Buddha is the Master of the Dharma, extraordinarily revered in awe and virtue, so for petty matters of light dust [an audience] is truly unacceptable; thus, cherishing shame and disgrace, they did not dare to go to the Buddha.
