贊曰：下明罪體依心方起。空理義云：如是心者，勝義諦中亦不住內外、不在兩間，性本空故。能起罪體。由此非真。應理義云：此八識心，不同二乘所說六識，六識不實住在六根，亦不實在外及兩間，唯依真如淨法界住，由此罪垢亦無住處。

The Commentary says: Below, he clarifies that the substance of the offense arises only based on the mind. The explanation according to the principle of emptiness states: Such a mind, in the ultimate truth, also does not abide internally or externally, nor does it abide in between, because its nature is originally empty. The substance of the offense that can be produced is, by this, not real. The explanation according to the principle of conformity to reason states: This mind of the eight consciousnesses is not like the six consciousnesses spoken of by the two vehicles; the six consciousnesses do not truly abide in the six faculties, nor are they truly external or in between; they abide solely depending on tathatā, the pure dharmadhātu. By this, the defilements of offenses also have no place of abode.
