Commentary: The following three phrases explain that because of selflessness, it is empty. By following either of the two practices, one can enter the truth: because it is free from self and what belongs to a self, it is empty and lacks substantiality. Through knowing it, there is no self; because there is no self, it is empty. There is no other cause that can make the body; it is merely moved by the wind. Because there is no self and nothing belonging to a self, it is empty. If it were what belongs to a self, it would necessarily be made by a self. Because that practice of emptiness empties the self and what belongs to a self, the Abhidharmasamuccaya says: "Within the aggregates, realms, and bases, self and what belongs to a self do not exist; therefore, emptiness is established."
