Commentary: Below, specifically revealing the exhaustion of reasoning. First, asking; then, revealing. In revealing, there are two parts: first, presenting his own affair; second, revealing the other's words. This asks and presents his own affair. Tuṣita is the fourth heaven among the six heavens of the desire realm. It is named 'contentment', because while enjoying various desire pleasures, they are deeply content. Due to this disposition, the bodhisattva dwells in it before being born below. The Buddha prophesied of Maitreya that after twelve years, he would sit cross-legged in his original place, enter parinirvāṇa as if entering the cessation attainment, ascend to be born in Tuṣita, and succeed to the position [of Buddhahood]. Therefore, many from that heaven come to gaze upon and pay homage to him. Maitreya had already transcended the stage of retrogression; thus, according to what was appropriate, he preached to that heaven the practices of the four non-retrogressive wheels of Dharma, or solely preached the dharma of the fourth stage of the non-retrogressive wheel of Dharma for the eighth bhūmi and above.
