4.104

贊曰：下顯他詞。有二：初明至軌、後正陳詞。此初也。彌勒落髮緇衣，次當補處。無垢形隨俗，故致虔宜。

Commentary: Below, revealing the other's words. There are two parts: first, clarifying the deportment upon arrival; second, properly presenting the words. This is the first. Maitreya had shaved his hair and donned black robes, as the one next in line to succeed to the position [of Buddhahood]. Vimalakīrti's appearance followed the worldly, so it was appropriate that he pay reverent respects.
