贊曰：下第二段，有五句，別明斷及正智體之與用菩提之義。有二：初二句，明斷菩提體；後三句，明智菩提用。此初文也。初句明斷性平等遍十二處，眼與色、耳與聲，乃至意與法，皆平等遍如虛空故。後句明斷無為，離四相故。

Commentary: In the second section below, there are five phrases specifically clarifying the meaning of bodhi in terms of the essence and function of abandonment and correct knowledge. It has two parts: the first two phrases clarify the essence of bodhi as abandonment; the latter three phrases clarify the function of bodhi as knowledge. This is the first text. The first phrase clarifies that the nature of abandonment is equal and pervades the twelve āyatanas: eye and form, ear and sound, up to mind and dharmas, are all equally pervasive like space. The latter phrase clarifies that abandonment is unconditioned (asaṃskṛta), because it is free from the four characteristics [of conditioned existence].
