贊曰：由證真如，煩惱便息。息者滅也。舊云「諸煩惱是道場，知如實故」，釋同標異，義少難知，不見息言，甚難解也。

Commentary: By realizing tathatā, defilements are extinguished. 'To quench' means to extinguish. The older translation says: 'The defilements are the bodhimaṇḍa, because one knows them as they truly are.' While the explanation agrees, the phrasing differs, making the meaning somewhat difficult to grasp; lacking the word 'quench,' it is exceedingly hard to understand.
