Commentary: Sentient beings and phenomena all take tathatā, selflessness, and nature-emptiness as their essence, and all are bodhi. The two grasped selves are nonexistent, and no self can exist; hence they are bodhi. Apprehending this tathatā is called wondrous bodhi, because it is bodhi through abandonment and the locus of wisdom. This is just as Maitreya explained by citing doctrinal teachings. All the above are the cognitive object, called bodhi because they can give rise to awakening.
