贊曰：下辭有三，此總陳道屈。不識魔相，為魔所嬈。彼示魔相，故辭不堪。
Commentary: The declining words below have three parts; this is the general statement of one's path falling short. Not recognizing the characteristics of Māra, he was troubled by Māra. Because [Vimalakīrti] pointed out the characteristics of Māra, he declined as being incapable.
