贊曰：下別顯理窮，初徵、後顯。顯中有二：初陳己事、後顯他詞。己事有五：一明己昔住、二魔來敬立、三不識勸之、四為魔試嬈、五顯己不受。此徵及明己昔住。

Commentary: Below, distinctively revealing the exhaustion of his rationale. First, posing the question; second, revealing it. Within the revelation there are two parts: first, stating his own past matter; second, showing the other's words. His own matter has five parts: 1. explaining his past dwelling; 2. Māra coming, paying respect, and standing; 3. not recognizing him and admonishing him; 4. being tested and harassed by Māra; 5. showing that he did not accept [the women]. This is posing the question and explaining his past dwelling.
