贊曰：此魔便施。俛者俯也，仰者仰也。厄不得已，故言俛仰。魔怖惱亂，俯仰與之，非其本心，故言俛仰。

Commentary: Here Māra then gives them. 'Fu' (俛) means looking down; 'yang' (仰) means looking up. In an unavoidable bind, he is said to hesitate and act reluctantly. Terrorized and bewildered, he gave them up with vacillation, which was not his original wish; hence it says 'with hesitation and reluctance'.
