贊曰：自下第三明欲還宮。文段有八：一喚女還宮、二女辭不去、三魔却從乞、四無垢施之、五天女問道、六無垢為說、七天女禮謝、八捨制放魔。此初文也。

Commentary: From here below, the third [major part] explains the desire to return to the palace. The text has eight parts: (1) Calling the women to return to the palace; (2) The women declining and refusing to go; (3) Māra turning back to beg for them; (4) Vimalakīrti giving them; (5) The devīs inquiring about the path; (6) Vimalakīrti explaining it for them; (7) The devīs bowing in gratitude; (8) Releasing the restraint and letting Māra go. This is the first section.
