贊曰：六無垢為說。有三：初略說、次復徵、後為釋。此初也。欲令傳法不斷絕故，說無盡燈。欲令慇重求聞法故，所以略說。

Commentary: Sixth, Vimalakīrti explains it for them. There are three parts: first, a brief explanation; next, questioning again; and finally, explaining in detail. This is the first. Because he desires that the transmission of the Dharma not be interrupted, he speaks of the inexhaustible lamp. Because he desires that they earnestly and deeply seek to hear the Dharma, he speaks briefly.
