贊曰：此第四，命蘇達多。初命、後辭。此初命也。蘇達多者，此云善施，善濟孤窮、心無所悋，故名善施。舊云「善德」，名義稍乖。

Commentary: This is the fourth [section], charging Sudatta. First is the charge, and later is the declining. This is the initial charge. "Sudatta" is translated here as Shanshi (Well-Bestowing); he skillfully relieves the orphaned and poor with a mind devoid of stinginess, hence he is called Well-Bestowing. The older version said "Shande" (Good Virtue), which slightly diverges from the name's meaning.
