Commentary: Below reveals the exhaustion of principle: first inquiring, then revealing. Within revealing, there are two parts: first stating one's own affairs, then revealing the other's words. One's own affairs has two parts: first that due to illness milk was needed, then that I was just begging for it. This is the inquiry and that the Buddha's illness required milk. Manifesting a slight illness: the Buddha suffered from back pain, which occurred occasionally; mixing milk with long pepper could cure it.
