Commentary: Because sentient beings are ill, my illness arises. The four elements of sentient beings constitute their illness, and because of them, mine is also of the four elements. The nature of the elements is empty and separated, so it is also not the four elements. When it is said that body, mind, and the four elements are all 'separated,' the doctrine of the Śūnyatā [school] says: because the true nature is empty. The doctrine of the Yukti [school] says: because what is grasped does not exist. The intention is ever distinct, known only through everything. Although realizing the two emptinesses, for the sake of sentient beings one is also ill, and hence there are the characteristics of illness.
