贊曰：下廣。有二：初破有病、後破空病。此二既無，誰復為空等是。初破有中，有五問答展轉相生，舊經有四。此初問答。受生死苦，不得菩提，名大患體。此由煩惱，我我所執當須除滅。

The Commentary says: Below is the extensive explanation. It comprises two parts: first, refuting the illness of existence; and later, refuting the illness of emptiness. 'Since these two are non-existent, what further constitutes emptiness?' and so forth. Within the first, refuting existence, there are five questions and answers arising successively in turn; the old translation had four. This is the first question and answer. Undergoing the suffering of birth and death and failing to attain bodhi is called the substance of the great affliction. This arises due to afflictions; clinging to 'I' and 'mine' must be eliminated.
