贊曰：下顯他辭有五：一彼問、二己答、三理詰、四生慚、五空告。此初也。方申理詰，初示不知，故為此問。

Commentary: Below, revealing the other's words has five parts: 1. his question; 2. one's own answer; 3. interrogation through principle; 4. giving rise to shame; 5. announcement from space. This is the first. About to present the interrogation through principle, he first feigns not knowing, and therefore asks this question.
