The Commentary says: Knowing that the nature of dharmas is empty. Observing one's own body and others' bodies, dharmas are all devoid of reality; how could there be the slightest dharma that could be eliminated? Therefore, illnesses are all eliminated, because one does not see illness. The old translation says: 'Only eliminate their illnesses, but do not eliminate dharmas.' The explanation from the perspective of the Principle of Emptiness says: The old translation says that the illness of existence is false and can be eliminated, whereas the empty dharma is real and not cast off. The real is originally empty; what is there to cast off? The explanation from the perspective of the Principle of Reason says: The old translation says that the illness of false clinging is eliminated by contemplating emptiness. Conditioned and unconditioned [dharmas] are dharmas, not illnesses; why should they be cast off?
