4.88

問：何故無垢訶令密去，空令取乳？答：說佛實病須乳，此不當，故令去。說佛化有疾故須乳，理可然，故令取。訶法，先訶令去；示法，後示令取，亦不相違。

Question: Why did Vimalakīrti reprimand him and tell him to leave secretly, while the sky told him to fetch the milk? Answer: Saying that the Buddha has a real illness and needs milk is inappropriate, hence [Vimalakīrti] told him to leave. Saying that the Buddha manifests an illness and therefore needs milk is logically acceptable, hence [the voice] told him to fetch it. Reprimanding the dharma, he first reprimanded him to make him leave; revealing the dharma, he later showed him that he should fetch it; thus there is no contradiction.
