贊曰：就此品中，大文有四：初鶖子心念；二無垢訶說；三顯不思議，問妙吉祥十方坐是；四時眾獲益，八千菩薩得解脫是。此初文也。心念床座，希自坐之。舊文有三，無時眾益。

Commentary: In this chapter, the general text has four parts: first, Śāriputra's mental thought; second, Vimalakīrti's rebuke and explanation; third, the revelation of the inconceivable, inquiring of Mañjuśrī about the seats of the ten directions; fourth, the assembly obtaining benefits, namely the eight thousand bodhisattvas attaining liberation. This is the first passage. He mentally thought of couch-seats, hoping to sit upon one himself. The older text had three parts, lacking the assembly obtaining benefits.
