問曰：何故初責求法非座，後問座方，方將設置？答：理應求真非俗，所以初訶；禮訖順機，所以今設。

Question: Why did he first reproach seeking the Dharma rather than seats, and later inquire about the direction of the seats, just about to set them up? Answer: In principle one should seek the ultimate rather than the conventional, which is why he reproached him first; once courtesy was observed, he accommodated their capacities, which is why he now sets them up.
