問：《佛地經》說「法樂為食」，何故此中說為妻也？答：據義名別。彼據任持，故名為食；此據能生，故名為妻，亦不相違。《法花經》言「慈悲心為室，諸法空為坐。」何故此中以空為舍？二各別故。有為及無為，勝劣舍別故。

Question: The Buddhabhūmi-sūtra says that 'Dharma-delight is food'; why is it spoken of here as the wife? Answer: The names differ according to the sense. That sūtra is based on sustaining, hence it is called food; this passage is based on generating, hence it is called wife; thus they do not conflict. The Lotus Sūtra says: 'A mind of loving-kindness and compassion is the room; the emptiness of all dharmas is the seat.' Why does this text take emptiness as the house? Because the two are distinct, conditioned and unconditioned having superior and inferior types of houses.
