The commentary says: Here there are five. First, supernormal powers are elephants and horses, because they can transport and transform. The Mahāyāna serves as the chariot, because it can convey benefit. The substance of the Mahāyāna is precisely the two true wisdoms, hence it can convey benefit. According to the Lotus, subsequent wisdom is the substance of the One Vehicle, and non-conceptual wisdom is the white bullock. Second, the mind of bodhi is able to steer and drive along the eightfold path, which is the eightfold noble path. Third, the thirty-two marks serve as ornaments, and the eighty secondary characteristics serve as interlaced adornments, because they adorn internal virtues. Fourth, shame and remorse are clothing, because they defend against all evils; the noble aspiration is a garland, because it lustrates the head of the mind. Fifth, the true Dharma is wealth, or the seven noble wealths as already explained before; or all noble dharmas are called wealth: giving them to all sentient beings, explaining this Dharma serves as an upāya; one's own unerring practice serves as supreme benefit, dedicated to bodhi for one's own enjoyment. Wealth has the virtue of being enjoyed both by others and oneself, hence the true Dharma is used as a metaphor. Alternatively, there are twelve here, distinguishing the chariot, charioteer, adornments, marks, aspiration, garland, and what is dedicated by the practice of upāya.
