Commentary: Fifth, having eaten, they experience peace and joy. First is the doctrine, then the simile. Sustained by the marvelous food and drawn forth by the sacred majesty, it was originally meant to aid beings; thus their bodies experienced peace and joy. A simile is raised to complete the statement. Those who eat this food are like the bodhisattvas in the worlds of serene adornment of all the reward lands in the ten directions, whose serene bodies are cheerful and unperturbed, being identical with them. It is not only the Western Sukhāvatī world, but all the worlds of peace and joy in the ten directions that serve as a simile.
