贊曰：品段有三，初未至菴園以現相、次至佛所以陳述、後菩薩讚請以歸還。初中復三：初未至現相、次阿難怪問、後世尊具告。此初也。其彼欲來，預現前相。一變廣博，增大行故；二變嚴淨，滅煩惱故；三變金色，顯成第一殊勝果故。

Commentary: The chapter has three sections: first, the manifesting of signs before arriving at the Āmrapālī-vana; second, the recounting upon arriving where the Buddha was; third, the praise and entreaty of the bodhisattvas before returning. Within the first, there are again three: first, manifesting signs before arrival; second, Ānanda's wonder and inquiry; third, the Bhagavat's detailed reply. This is the first. Because he wished to come, he manifested signs in advance. First, [the place] transformed to become vast and spacious, in order to increase great practice; second, it transformed to become adorned and pure, in order to extinguish afflictions; third, it transformed into a golden color, in order to show the accomplishment of the foremost, supreme fruit.
