贊曰：下顯得菩薩。有四。此從凡夫具菩薩性，要發大心，然後消化。義顯無性不得此食，不發心故。雖具世間有漏五根，此利出世，故彼不得。義顯此食至得部行獨覺，然後乃消，類聲聞故，多不逢佛，故不說之。類顯聲聞具種姓者，得食發心然後乃消。此文中略，義類應有。

Commentary: Below shows attainment of Bodhisattvahood. There are four [stages]. This is from an ordinary person possessing the Bodhisattva gotra; they must give rise to the great aspiration, and only thereafter does it digest. The meaning shows that those lacking the gotra do not obtain this food, because they do not give rise to the aspiration. Although they possess the mundane sāsrava five faculties, this [food] benefits what is supramundane, and hence they do not obtain it. In meaning it is indicated that for this food [to digest], it must reach the attainment of a group-practicing pratyekabuddha, and only thereafter does it digest; because they are similar to Śrāvakas and mostly do not meet a Buddha, they are not mentioned. By analogy it is shown that Śrāvakas possessing the gotra, having obtained the food, give rise to the aspiration, and only thereafter does it digest. In this text it is abbreviated, but by meaning and category it should be present.
