贊曰：二已發心，要得初地。無生初得在初地故。三從初地要得八地，具足不退在八地故。四從八地要至補處，補處乃在一生繫故。亦應一生繫得此食已，成佛乃消。然為一生多居知足，此食不至一生之身，故略不說。或義應有，文略無之。

Commentary: Second, having already aroused the aspiration, one must attain the first bhūmi, because anutpāda is first attained on the first bhūmi. Third, from the first bhūmi one must attain the eighth bhūmi, because complete non-retrogression is on the eighth bhūmi. Fourth, from the eighth bhūmi one must reach the stage of being bound to one more birth (eka-jāti-pratibaddha), because one bound to one more birth is tied to a single lifetime. It should also be that after one bound to one more birth obtains this food, only upon attaining Buddhahood does it digest. However, because those of one more birth mostly dwell in Tuṣita, this food does not reach the body of one in their last birth, and thus it is omitted and not mentioned. Or, by meaning it should be present, but the text is abbreviated and lacks it.
