Commentary: Here there are three clauses. Although contemplating the principle that conditioned things lack substantiality, and the dharma-nature of tathatā, they always abide serenely in perfection, reflecting without wearying. Although contemplating the tathatā that all dharmas have no master, they seek spontaneous wisdom diligently without laxity. Those with 'marks' are conditioned things, just as a king has a banner as a mark. Furthermore, conditioned things have characteristics and things characterized: taking the four defining characteristics as the markers, and all conditioned dharmas characterized as the marked. The unconditioned lacks this, hence it is called 'markless'. Although contemplating this unconditioned, yet within the definitive teaching one listens to the true Dharma and establishes the lineage of the Buddha. In the clauses above, where it says 'contemplating', all refer to contemplating the unconditioned; where it says 'yet', all refer to not abiding.
