6.42

贊曰：請食所由。有二：見食發心，名欣大慧。眾生利益，并揚佛德，名稱遠聞。由此二義，故令請食。

Commentary: The reason for requesting the food. There are two aspects: seeing the food and generating the resolve [for awakening] is called 'delighting in the great wisdom'; benefiting sentient beings along with praising the Buddha's virtues causes his fame to be heard far and wide. Due to these two meanings, he instructed him to request the food.
