6.540

贊曰：是彼佛答，顯此菩薩有大威神，方便推言非我所能，豈佛不能起此神力。由此經言為化眾生方便告也。

Commentary: This is that Buddha's reply. To reveal that this bodhisattva has great supernatural majesty, he expediently deferred by saying, "This is not what I can do." How could the Buddha be unable to exercise this supernormal power? It is for this reason that the sūtra says he expediently addressed them in order to transform sentient beings.
