贊曰：三無緣不達。有二：初明不知、後明驚問。此初也。報淨土內，理無人天二初等眾。今諸菩薩，如來化作，故現不知，亦無過失。或淨土者，通有報化淨土，淨土中有人天眾、江海等器，何所相違？

Commentary: (3) Those without karmic conditions do not realize. It has two parts: first, explaining that they did not know; second, explaining that they were startled and asked. This is the first. In a recompense pure land (saṃbhoga-kṣetra), in principle there are no beginners among humans and devas of the two [vehicles]. Now, these bodhisattvas are manifested by the Tathāgata, and therefore manifesting that they do not know is also without error. Or, pure lands generally comprise both recompense and transformation pure lands; if there are human and deva assemblies, rivers, seas, and other containers in a pure land, what contradiction is there?
