6.56

贊曰：下彼佛具陳。有二：一陳釋迦、二陳無垢。此陳釋迦。出五濁世，為度下劣欲樂有情，宣揚正法。此答二問：一答界所，下劣等也。二答下劣意樂，五濁之世有情也。梵云索訶，此云堪忍，堪能忍受諸苦事故，天授出血、善星掃跡，如是等也。

Commentary: Below, that Buddha explains in detail. There are two parts: first, explaining Śākyamuni; second, explaining Vimalakīrti. This explains Śākyamuni: appearing in the world of five corruptions to deliver sentient beings with inferior desires and pleasures, proclaiming the true Dharma. This answers two questions: first, it answers the realm's location—the 'inferior', etc.; second, it answers the inferior inclinations—the sentient beings in the world of the five corruptions. In Sanskrit it is *Sahā*, rendered here as 'Endurance'; because they are capable of enduring various painful circumstances—such as Devadatta shedding [the Buddha's] blood, Sunakkhatta sweeping away footprints, and so forth.
