贊曰：此有二句。一隨喜設法施。有隨喜便為法施，此法能為眾生利益，故若隨喜令得流行，不為障礙使他修學，其隨喜者便成法施。二演說近不退。為他說一四句頌，便近不退。一四句者，四句為一頌。說此經理四句周圓之處，名一四句頌。不退有四：一信、二位、三證、四行，如前已說。隨其所應，近此不退。

Commentary: Here there are two lines: (1) Sympathetic joy constitutes the gift of Dharma. If there is sympathetic joy, it constitutes the gift of Dharma. Because this Dharma can benefit sentient beings, if one rejoices and causes it to circulate, not creating obstacles and causing others to cultivate and learn it, one's sympathetic joy becomes the gift of Dharma. (2) Expounding approaches non-retrogression. Preaching even a single four-line verse for others, one immediately approaches non-retrogression. A single four-line verse means four lines make one verse. Expounding where the principle of this sūtra is rounded out in four lines is called a single four-line verse. Non-retrogression has four types: (1) of faith, (2) of stage, (3) of realization, and (4) of practice, as previously explained. In accordance with what is appropriate, one approaches this non-retrogression.
