贊曰：此經時供養。有三：初明時節、次明外供、後明內業。外供有十二：一華鬘、二燒香、三塗香、四末香、五衣服、六幡、七蓋、八寶幢、九燈輪、十眾珍、十一伎樂、十二種種。此各有三：一身供敬、二意尊重、三語讚歎。以此外十二事，經復時供養。燒香者，沈香之類，可燒之香。塗香者，摩栴檀香以塗塔上。末香者，以香為末，散塔上故。

Commentary: This is making offerings over a period of time. There are three parts: first, explaining the duration of time; next, explaining the external offerings; finally, explaining the internal karma. The external offerings are twelve: first, garlands; second, burning incense; third, unguent incense; fourth, powdered incense; fifth, clothing; sixth, banners; seventh, canopies; eighth, jeweled standards; ninth, circles of lamps; tenth, various gems; eleventh, musical entertainment; twelfth, various [items]. Each of these has three aspects: first, bodily reverence; second, mental respect; third, verbal praise. With these external twelve matters, one makes offerings for a further period of time. Burning incense refers to types like agarwood, incense that can be burned. Unguent incense refers to rubbing sandalwood incense to smear on the stūpa. Powdered incense refers to grinding incense into powder to scatter over the stūpa.
