贊曰：品段有三，初付授丁寧、次問名持法、後時利既訖歡喜流通。初復有二：初付菩薩，自所行故；後付聲聞，令取捨故。初復有三：初付授彌勒、二菩薩請持、三天王擁衛。初復有三：初如來付屬、次彌勒讚受、後世尊稱讚。初復有二：初以法付、後陳德失。初復有二：初付令行、後釋所以。初復有三：初總以法付、次明法勝妙、後令末代傳通。此初也。聖行海因所集之果，明體用大，以付於汝。

The Commentary says: The chapter has three sections: first, the attentive entrustment; next, inquiring about the title and upholding the Dharma; afterwards, the benefit of the time having ended, joyfully circulating it. The first again has two parts: first, entrusting to the Bodhisattvas, because it is their own practice; later, entrusting to the Śrāvakas, causing them to adopt or reject. The first again has three parts: first, entrusting to Maitreya; second, the Bodhisattvas requesting to uphold it; third, the Deva Kings protecting it. The first again has three parts: first, the Tathāgata's entrustment; next, Maitreya's praise and acceptance; afterwards, the Bhagavat's praise. The first again has two parts: first, entrusting with the Dharma; later, presenting merits and faults. The first again has two parts: first, entrusting and enjoining practice; later, explaining the reason. The first again has three parts: first, entrusting with the Dharma in general; next, explaining the supreme wondrousness of the Dharma; afterwards, causing it to be transmitted and propagated in the final age. This is the first. The fruit gathered from the causal ocean of holy practices reveals the greatness of its substance and function, which is entrusted to you.
