贊曰：下陳德失。有三：初標、次顯、後釋。此初也。印有二種：一無相印，如前已釋。二者有相印，此是也。相者狀貌，印者決定。相狀決定，名為相印。此二教名印，印二菩薩故。

Commentary: Below, [the Bhagavān] sets forth virtues and faults. There are three parts: first, marking them out; next, revealing them; finally, explaining them. This is the first. There are two kinds of seal: First, the seal of signlessness, as previously explained. Second, the seal with characteristics, which is this. 'Characteristic' means form and appearance; 'seal' means certitude. When form and appearance are certain, it is called the seal of characteristics. These two teachings are called seals because they seal the two [types of] bodhisattvas.
