贊曰：下陳失相。有二，次第明前二菩薩故。初又有三：初標、次顯、後結。此初也。法忍者，初地於諦教法所得智忍，由四緣故。初學菩薩，不得初地。

Commentary: Below, [the Bhagavān] sets forth the characteristics of their faults. There are two parts, successively clarifying the previous two [kinds of] bodhisattvas. The first also has three parts: first, marking it out; next, revealing it; finally, concluding. This is the first. 'Patience toward phenomena' is the cognitive patience attained on the first ground regarding the true teaching of the Dharma; it is owing to four conditions that newly trained bodhisattvas do not attain the first ground.
