贊曰：下受。有二：初受德失相、後受前付屬。此初也。所說新文，菩薩過失，謙虛讓德，不敢自受，云是過失我當遠離。顯自居因，未至果位；至果可盡，故言當離。

Commentary: Below is accepting. There are two parts: first, accepting the characteristics of virtues and faults; second, accepting the previous entrustment. This is the first. Regarding the faults of bodhisattvas spoken of in the new text, out of humility and deferring virtue, he dares not accept [virtue] for himself, but says, 'I will leave these faults behind.' This clarifies that he himself dwells in the causal stage and has not yet reached the result stage; only when reaching the result can they be exhausted, and therefore he says 'I will leave [them] behind.'
