Commentary: The second part explains wisdom. As for 'body and mind', it is the provisional arising of illness from the harmony of the five aggregates; relying on this function of being pressed by many sufferings, these two have from beginningless time mutually depended on each other in turn, the later arising as the earlier ceases, never having a momentary interval, not having never arisen and only now newly arising, not being of old unceasing and only at this moment beginning to cease. Furthermore, if one says it is newly existent, it is then a preexisting disease; if one says it is a preexisting illness, it is newly arisen in moment after moment. Knowing that body and illness have arising and ceasing in moment after moment, therefore it is said to be neither new nor old.
