Commentary: Below are twelve clauses, only not the same as the two vehicles. There are three divisions: the first two clauses are not the same in separating from defilement and taking rebirth; the next seven clauses are not the same in cultivating the bodhipakṣa-dharmas; the latter three clauses are not the same in realizing the unconditioned and conditioned. These are the first two clauses. When the two vehicles contemplate the anāsrava, they hope to separate from defilement; when the bodhisattva contemplates the anāsrava, they do not hope to separate from defilement, retaining afflictions until all afflictions are exhausted in order to realize the Buddha's omniscient wisdom. When the two vehicles attain sāsrava absorption, they take rebirth in accordance with the power of absorption; when the bodhisattva attains sāsrava absorption, they do not take rebirth in accordance with the power of absorption.
