次、觀心釋名者，何故須是？上來所說，專是聖人聖寶，非己智分。如鸚鵡學語，似客作數錢，不能開發自身寶藏。今欲論道前凡夫地之珍寶，即聞而修，故明觀心釋也。《淨名》曰「諸佛解脫當於眾生心行中求。」《釋論》云「有聞有智慧，是所說應受。」即此意也。

Next, explaining the title by contemplating the mind: Why is this necessary? What was explained above pertains exclusively to the sacred treasures of the sages, not to one's own share of wisdom. It is like a parrot learning human speech, or like a hired laborer counting someone else's money; it cannot unlock the treasure store of one's own body. Now we wish to discuss the precious treasures of the ordinary person's stage prior to the path, so that upon hearing they may practice; therefore we clarify the explanation by contemplating the mind. The *Vimalakīrti-nirdeśa* says: 'The liberation of all buddhas should be sought in the mental actions of sentient beings.' The *Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa* says: 'Having hearing and having wisdom—this is what is expounded and should be received.' This is precisely the meaning.
