金光明經文句 1.23

1.23

「微妙」者，他釋因微果妙。今不爾，因果俱微妙。因中性德深而難見名為微，不縱不橫名為妙，果中修德亦復如是。

"Subtle": others explain this as the cause being slight and the fruit being marvelous. Now [we say] this is not so: cause and fruit are both subtle. In the cause, the virtue of the [original] nature is deep and hard to see, which is called "slight"; being neither vertical nor horizontal, it is called "marvelous"; in the fruit, the virtue of cultivation is also like this.
