上觀四諦智名四佛。觀五佛云何觀？觀五戒實相，覺智清淨，即是觀心中見五佛也。次破煩惱障，指「愁憂恐怖」一句是也。上來諸事，或約內身或約外報，是報障義便，此一句專明心為煩惱障便。

Above, the wisdom of contemplating the four truths was called the four Buddhas. How does one contemplate the five Buddhas? Contemplating the true mark of the five precepts, awakening wisdom being pure, is seeing the five Buddhas in the contemplation of the mind. Next is breaking the affliction obstacle, which refers to the phrase 'grief, sorrow, and terror'. The various matters mentioned above were explained either in terms of the internal body or external retribution; this was the appropriate meaning of the retribution obstacle. This single phrase exclusively clarifies the mind as the appropriate meaning of the affliction obstacle.
