Second, citing proof: 'Merely eighty years' proves the measurable. 'The heavenly beings, humans, and eight classes cannot calculate it', and 'the catties of mountains and drops of the ocean cannot be counted and known'—these prove the immeasurable of the measurable. 'The boundaries of empty space cannot be delimited' proves the non-discrimination of the object. Also, 'only the Tathāgata excepted' proves that the wisdom can have distinctions. Further, in the text below, 'the abyss of wisdom is boundless, and the waters of the Dharma are replete' also proves wisdom. 'The lifespan cannot be calculated' proves the inexpressible. 'Wishing to proclaim the lifespan obtained by the Tathāgata Śākyamuni' proves that it can be expressed through compassion. Further, 'hearing these four Buddhas proclaim the immeasurable lifespan of the Tathāgata' proves that it can be expressed through great compassion. The new translation clarifies that the brāhmaṇa seeking a relic of the Buddha the size of a grain of millet to seek retribution among the six heavens proves the measurable. The prince saying that the Suvarṇaprabhāsa is 'difficult to conceive and difficult to understand, with boundless karmic reward'—'boundless karmic reward' proves the immeasurable of the measurable, and 'difficult to conceive and difficult to understand' generally proves the inexpressibility of wisdom and object, and so forth.
